The Proposal
The emerging proposal aims to breathe new life into the former hospital site through the retention and conversion of its listed buildings into residential homes, complemented by the removal of non-listed structures and the development of new housing. The proposals also include landscaping, parking and supporting infrastructure.
This consultation offers local residents and stakeholders the opportunity to learn more about the plans, provide feedback, and help shape the proposals before a planning application is formally submitted to East Lothian Council.
Proposal of Application Notice
A Proposal of Application Notice (PoAN) was submitted to East Lothian Council on 21 July 2026. This marks the start of a consultation process that will run for a minimum period of 12 weeks. At the end of the consultation process, it is intended that Dundas will submit a detailed Planning Application.

This pre-application consultation is an important part of the planning process. It allows us to present our initial proposals to the local community, answer questions and gather views that will help inform the final planning submission.
All feedback received during the consultation period will be carefully reviewed and summarised within a Report on Consultation which will accompany any future planning application.
