Dundas sponsors Scottish University Karate Championships as they come to KirkcaldyWe recently had the pleasure of sponsoring an award in the Scottish University Karate Championships when they were held near our Ostlers Way development in the Chapel area of Kirkcaldy, Fife.
Congratulations go to Denisa Gombalova from the University of Edinburgh who was voted Best Competitor of the Day and was awarded the Dundas Cup in recognition of her achievement. She won Gold in the Senior Female Kata division, Silver in Kumite, and Silver in Team Kumite, and picked up the inaugural Best Competitor trophy. Edinburgh University Shukokai Club won the Overall Team UNI Cup.
Denisa’s win as Best Competitor was also significant because Sport Scotland statistics show that Karate is the fastest growing sport for females in the country.
Karate will be an official Olympic sport when the next Games are held in Tokyo in 2020 and a noticeable buzz has been felt at Karate competitions in Scotland, with this being no exception. And as these Championships came to Fife for the first time, there was a great atmosphere in the hall.
Kirkcaldy sits on the banks of the Firth of Forth and is Fife’s largest town. It’s a great place for families, with good schools and lots of outdoor space, including public parks and many long, sandy beaches. And, with several museums, historic monuments and art galleries; two golf courses; the Adam Smith Theatre; fantastic shopping options; and a monthly farmers market, it has a wide range of attractions and amenities to suit everyone.
Dundas Estates’ Ostlers Way development is located near the A92 and Kirkcaldy railway station. The development features one and two bedroom apartments, three-bedroom terraced houses, three-bed semi-detached, and three, four and five-bedroom detached homes. Popular with first time buyers, growing families, and downsizers alike, there are layouts and sizes to meet a variety of needs.
