Dundas Estates wins at Scottish Home Awards

Dundas Estates’ Calderwood Village has won its second major prize of the year after being named large housing development of the year at the Scottish Home Awards.

The innovative housing development in Coatbridge beat tough competition to win the accolade at the event held in Edinburgh yesterday (16 June). This win follows Calderwood Village’s recognition as best large private development at the 2016 Homes for Scotland Awards. The Scottish Home Awards is an independent awards programme that strives to identify the best new build housing created and delivered in the last year.

The first ‘Yours’ Sustainable Community in Scotland, Calderwood Village places a focus on community living through its carefully planned streets, a community hub and attractive outdoor spaces. The design allows for family and group gatherings, and is also a clean, green neighbourhood. The development was praised by the North Lanarkshire Council as an example of good practice in planning.

Bruce Dunlop, Managing Director of Dundas Estates, said: “We’re really pleased that Calderwood Village has won another major award this year. We’re so proud of the development and this win solidifies its place as a pioneering example of community-focused neighbourhood design.

“I would like to thank all our staff and customers who have helped to create the wonderful sense of community spirit at Calderwood Village, and make it a great place to live.”

Building on the success of the development Dundas Estates is in the process of carrying out plans to expand the village to provide another 210 family homes over the next four years. Once complete it will include a wide mix of over 350 family homes and apartments for local people.
